Rajiv Gandhi was the 6th Prime Minister of India, serving from 1984 to 1989. He was the youngest person to ever hold the office, and he is still remembered as one of India's most popular leaders.

He was elected to Parliament in a by-election later that year, and he was appointed Prime Minister by the Congress Party.

  India to Launch 75 Rupees Coin to Commemorate 75th Anniversary of Independence The Indian government has announced that it will launch a 75 rupees coin to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence. The coin will be made of a quaternary alloy , with 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel, and 5 percent zin c. It will be circular in shape with a diameter of 44 millimeters and will have 200 serrations along its edges. The coin will weigh 35 grams.
